This was our last game of the season against a very much improved Cadishead side where two mums have taken over the managing of the team. Maybe some of our mums would like to look after a new U10’s team next season!!
In training we concentrated on ‘Pass and Move’ practice and this was evident in some wonderful play between Meg F, Em, Hannah and Soph. Em worked tirelessly in midfield. Soph ran the opposition ragged easily outpassing everyone on the pitch and causing the opposition no end of problems. Hannah showed us her new found skills learnt from hours of playing FIFA STREET on playstation!
Eventually the pressure told and Hannah scored a superb opening goal.
Meg F (in her last game before joining Man City!!!!) created a series of great scoring opportunities with a mixture of great skill and determination.
1 – 0 at half time (Should have been 7 – 0).
In the second half, Cadishead came at us with renewed confidence. Bronya and Meg W played some excellent football keeping them at bay. Meg W tackled stongly and always made her passes count to start off attacks. Bronya fired one of her trademark rocket shots which just skimmed the crossbar.
Anna ‘Crusher’ Wrigley stuck to their number 10 like glue leaving Fi with hardly a save to make.
Beth showed a combination of speed and skill to make numerous penetrating runs into the oppositions half. Her improvement this season is for all to see.
Eventually pressure from our ‘Pass and Move’ tactics told. Emily, Hannah and Soph all combined to get the ball to Meg F who scored a scorcher of a goal. She was rewarded with an immediate substitution (That’ll teach her to go to Man City!!)
Cadishead did score a consolation goal near to the end of the match but the game was already won.
Great Passing, Skill and Teamwork Warriors.
I hope you have all enjoyed this season. I have and am very proud of you all.
You have competed in the ‘A’ League of probably the best league in Lancashire, against some of the best teams in Lancashire and can hold you head up high with your performances. Remember also that half of your team are still only U11’s. It would be easy to enter an easier league and beat everyone. I believe the competition this season has made you all much better players individually and a much better team.
Beating Broadheath and Urmston Meds proves that we can beat anyone on our day.
Well Done Girls. Bring on the Tournaments.
