The under 11’s came up against the early league leaders who also boasted 31 goals in their opening two games. This proved a very tough match from the beginning against a physically bigger team and their strength proved decisive.
They opened the scoring with a good finish from a free kick, and by half time they had a four goal lead. We started well in the second half and the defence battled hard, with excellent displays from Shauna, Chloe and Isa. Although we used three different goalkeepers in the game, Chloe, Emily and Rebecca, we conceded another four goals in the second half.
The player of the match was Shauna, who kept going all game long and her tackling in the centre of defence kept the score down. The opposition gave the award to Emily, who kept attempting to run at their defence but unfortunately had no luck. The Urmston manager said this had been their toughest game so far this season and all the girls deserve credit for this.
