Woodbank Athletic U11's vs Droylsden Jnrs

It was great to have a full squad of 8 back for this game, and they all played their part in the game against Droylsden. With gale force winds, we had this to our advantage in the first half. However, even though we had the vast majority of the possession we just couldn’t get the opening goal we needed. Anna hooked the ball over the bar from close range, and Emily powered a strong shot onto the cross bar. It was in the final minutes when Emily finally managed to squeeze the ball into the corner to goal to give us a 1-0 lead at half time.

We were concerned that playing into the wind would prove difficult and that the lead was not enough. The girls responded well to this, and Shauna, Rebecca and Chloe in defence comfortably dealt with Droylsden attacks.

We doubled our lead when Isa broke from midfield to score, and she repeated this to make the score 3-0. Isa came close to making this a hatrick, but their goalkeeper saved well.

The opposition player of the match was given to Isa, and ours went to Shauna for another good defensive display. Also, well played Chloe who marked their striker all game very close to our goal. Although she didn’t have much of the ball, or much to do, she remained alert and performed well.
